We are in the Pre-Planning Process for an escape route clearance project along Hwy 35 in the Alpine Rd. area starting at the Horse Stables. The treatment area is located along Hwy 35 starting at roughly the Skyline Ridge Equestrian Parking Lot entrance and progressing North along Hwy 35 until the funds run out. This area is a very popular road year-round with various of bikers, travelers on foot, and vehicles visiting the area.

Goals for this project: 

The goals of this project are to trim woody vegetation, prune trees, clear dead material and clear any hazard trees that may fall onto the road. This project will provide an effective escape route during a wildfire, improve visibility and travel safety and to reduce the risk of roadside fire ignition.

In order to increase the effectiveness of the escape route and to complete the work, we need community participation. To have the brush cleared along your parcel please sign and mail the RIGHT OF ENTRY PERMIT found below to:

Overall Treatment specifications: No live trees (either native or non-native) that are large enough to require a tree removal permit are planned for removal. Pruning live trees over permit size should not remove more than 25% of the canopy. Dead trees will be permitted. Trimmings and chips from trees and brush will be hauled away. DO NOT BLOW CHIPS ONTO THE TRUNKS OF TREES, near coverts, into nearby streams, or along residential properties.
