In cooperation with the City of Saratoga, The Santa Clara County FireSafe Council (SCCFSC) is sponsoring hazardous tree removal matching cost-share assistance of up to $1,000 per residence/applicant. Funding is available on a first come first served basis.
Contractors will be hired directly by applicant and the SCCFSC will reimburse applicant upon being provided evidence of project completion and payment to the contractor. Contractor must be licensed in the state of California for the type of tree removal required. SCCFSC will reimburse 50% of the project costs not to exceed the rebate schedule attached. Rebates are capped at $1,000. per APN.
Applicants are required to have a Hazardous Ignition Zone (HIZ) assessment to be eligible for this reimbursement. This assessment will be completed at no cost by the SCCFSC. Submission of this application is also considered an application for a HIZ assessment. You will be contacted by one of our staff to schedule the HIZ

Submission of an application is not a guarantee of funding, you will receive notification from the SCCFSC if your rebate application is approved. No applications will receive final approved until a HIZ inspection has been completed.
The following items must be submitted with your application. Your application will not be considered complete without these attachments. Attached documents must be legible. A photo of the permit is acceptable as long as it is in focus, and readable.
- A tree removal permit from the City of Saratoga
- Two to three pictures of your dead tree including one showing the tree diameter 3′ above the ground
If you have any problems submitting your pictures thru the application form below you can forward your “application email confirmation” that you will receive from SCCFSC after submission of application below and the above items needed to: aharmon@sccfiresafe.org in order for your application to be considered complete.
